Brushing teeth??

Gerard and I woke up this morning and instantly our thoughts went to Little banana. Do they brush her teeth? It seems so crazy but we were wondering this morning as we both reached for our brushes. Of course Gerard had a fresh comment like "I am sure that they do but not the way you would like them brushed!"

I laughed because I know he is right. I am feeling so many feelings right now and mostly ones that migrate to wanting to take care of her my way. I know I am obsessing over things that I can not change now. I have waited so long for the day that I will have my own little baby who I can take care of just the way I think it should be done.

What a funny conversation! I can't begin to imagine how excited you must be to know you very SOON will be raising YOUR OWN LITTLE GIRL :) I can feel your excitement from reading each post! I am so happy this dream is finally coming true for you!

Hi Joy! I'm sure you are thinking about her all the time!

We assumed our son had never had his teeth brushed, but the first night in the hotel when we showed him his toothbrush he seemed to be familiar with the whole process. (He was 3 years old)

So are you saying you don't want a toothbrush that tells you how to brush your teeth in Tibetin? j/k

Believe me, the same thoughts run through my head everytime I think of Colby. Especially as we get closer and closer to bringing him home.

We had four cavities upon our arrival home, so I don't think they get the tooth care we get here. Of course, the tea with milk doesn't help either. Luckily, your little one is much younger, so hopefully her teeth will be in better shape.

Funny how your thoughts are always with your child once you know who they are and where they live.

We had 5 cavities and mouth sores . . . the first time we gave her a tootbrush she just kinda moved it around her front teeth a bit - and she's 6 years old! They really don't focus on oral care over there!

Our sons didn't have teeth when we brought them home but a few friends will say they do not brush their teeth, or at least the way we do. We have had friends that have needed to do lots of dental work on their older kids.

I completely understand the wanting to take care of LP. I am just waiting for a referral and I can't stop thinking about her all.the.time!

Daniel was thrilled with a toothbrush but I don't think he had ever seen one. I even asked the orphanage diretor if they knew how many teeth he had and they actually laughed (in a good way) at me and then told me the lady who takes care of the teeth (whatever that meant) wasn't there that day! Totally normal to think about those things!

I heard about all of that tea and coffee with sugar the kids drink in Eastern Europe.
I can't wait till that day you get to bring her home - I can only imagine how excited you must be right now!!
