It is no secret that Gerard loves having a place for everything and everything in its place. According to him he is very even and I am haphazard. So I came home from work and my living room has been stripped of all the decorations. Yes everything is gone. Now the funny thing is he thinks that I would not notice. He claims that this is his attempt to baby proof the house but I know the real deal.
So when he called me this afternoon I told him I want it all back. His response was fine that can we outline where everything goes so that it is easier to clean up? Yes you heard it here he wants to outline all of my "stuff" with crime scene tape so that it is less haphazard and easier to clean.
When I told him that children are not always neat his response to me was that we gave her an "even" name so she will be. I started to now only refer to him as Monk! These are the things about him that I love.
So tell me is there too much stuff?
No news on the adoption front. I did wait til Friday to email my coordinator so I really did not expect to hear anything until Monday.

It looks picture perfect to me! Very pretty.
The little tiara on my blog is from Etsy. Google Etsy and then do a search. Sorry, I am not very good at posting the links...I really have to figure that out. Becky tried to tell me one time and I just couldn't figure it out....
I REALLY hope you hear something soon...I would love to run into you in Moscow!
Looks very nice to me too!
However, the rule of thumb I've grown into since we got Liam is to draw an horizontal imaginary line at about 3 ft level throughout your entire house. Anything below that line no longer belongs to you. Anything exploring little fingers can reach is fair game. And even if you're in the same room, toddlers move much faster than you might be able to. ;)
Of course, there are some things you can't do much about - like the TV, for example. but we've tried to limit how much adult stuff we have down low enough to be grabbed. Early on, we lost a cool floor lamp that had pretty multicolored glass globes. I was just sure it was too stout to be easily tipped over, but well, I was wrong.
But I'm kind of obsessive about stuff too. I try really hard to keep or put back things where they belong. It's a struggle sometimes, but I believe you can have a child and not let that totally change your house or living style. I'm happy to be a Dad, but I also don't want to lose my identity as an individual.
I gave up. . .as soon as I thought we had everything baby proofed (we started out sadly remiss in a lot of things--we had two dogs! Who knew a kid would knock more over???) he started to climb and reach even more.
I think your place looks great. Hate to tell you that all of that could stay. . .just get used to a lot more in the same space! : )
I went through one weekend and thought I had "baby proofed". Then I invited my oldest and dearest friend and her 18 month old to spend a night with me. That was the BEST way to find out what was interesting. From there I moved somethings to higher ground. Especially those that held special value.
I still have somethings in "Little T" range -- but I also think it's important that kids learn what's ok and what's not. And if you take everything away, how do they learn that? LOL
Also - I'll echo Kristine -- Etsy ROCKS!
I think it looks great too. Gerard keeps me smiling!
Looking forward to hearing travel news soon...hopefully tomorrow.
I think the room looks great! Looks like there is a lot of nesting going on!- I did a lot of that myself this weekend!
I can't wait till you get your travel dates!
Very nice!
It's hard to find the happy medium between nicely decorated and baby proofed. If you find it let me know. :)
doesn't look like too much stuff at all!
It looks fine, but the glass will have to go and anything in those drawers! Daniel opens ours in our coffee table, I also had a nice lenox vase I thought was high enough, but his rough housing bumped into it and chipped it, so thats stashed away!
Oh my goodness - the tape outlining suggestion is fantastic! I'm a little OC myself, but I must say - that room looks great :)

By the way - you made me laugh when you mentioned the orphanage aunties would be proud of how we bundled Nicholas up for his snow frolic! You're so right!
Your home is beautiful. The only reason to scale back is to make room for swings, jumperoos, bumbo seats, bouncie seats, etc. We did get rid of our "pretty" house b/c it gets tiring saying "no" all the time. So I removed a lot of the no's. It will happen naturally.
It looks magazine cover ready. But I tend toward Gerard a bit here. I'd remove those globey things on the tables, because if she broke that it could hurt her or she could at least bonk herself on the head with one. Otherwise, if it's smallish or if it is irreplaceable, I'd move it at least Up high.
