Here is My New Machina!! **Edited to Add Picture**

Here is my new Machina!! After test driving many different cars I came right back to the one I loved the best. I bought the 2009 Ford Escape Limited. This car has everything in it. I feel comfortable driving it and the features that I wanted the most are all there. Yes I got the leather-heated seats. I think that is the the best feature of the whole car. I figured out that I love leather in a car because of the easy clean up but those heated seats are to die for!

I went with the 2009 over a leftover or used car because Ford made a number of changes to the engine and the transmission. The one I got is the 2.5 I4 engine with the 6-speed transmission. These changes increase the gas mileage up 28 mpg. Much better then what I was getting with my old car (19 mpg).

I got a pretty good deal considering all the features this car has in it. I'm lucky I do not have a problem with getting credit. There was a small look of surprise on the salesman's face when I pulled out my deposit. My first payment is on January 19, 2008 so I hope that I still of the car that day.

As for me my jaw still bothers me a bit. Now my back is also a bit tender I hope that these pains go away soon. I hate to go to the doctors so if I can stick it out until I feel better that is my plan.

Adoption update: My paperwork expires in January 2009. My plan for right now is no plan. I have decided that I will not be completing any new paperwork until January 2009. That is when I will make my decisions whether it is changing agencies or to not adopt at all. I guess I just need time to reflect on what I want.

Hi Joy,
I am so glad you got the Escape! About the adoption - I know all too well the feeling about getting negative thoughts when the waiting seems to be endless. I hope it is true that your referral will come by February. I know it is hard to think positively because you have been waiting so long. But, there has to be a reason for all of this - I believe your little one just wasn't ready yet, but soon will be. Hang in there! I am praying for good news sooner than you thought. Your comments always make me feel better - Thanks so much for that. I am taking the posivie thoughts you sent to me and sending them right back to you!
Best always...Teresa

Hi,
Glad you got a new car worked out. Sounds like a fun one! I know I LOVE my heated seats here in MN...especailly today when the high is 6. BRRR.

I know the waiting seems so unbearable, especailly right now during the holidays, but truly, it will happen, and when it does, it will be worth it. Even though our Russian adoption was very quick, we prepared 2 other dossiers for countrys that closed on us and spend 1.5 years on those countries.

Keep your chin up and know you have lots of people rooting for you!

HUGS-Nicole

Congrats on the Escape. I really do love mine. Even if I don't have the leather seats. It handles really well and the gas mileage is pretty good too.
As for your paperwork, I wouldn't update anything yet. Wait and see. We had paperwork that "expired" in Oct. but didn't hear word from the judge and our agency until mid November. Keep a list of what will be updated and keep on that but don't have anything officially done. It will only expire quicker if you do. I am so sorry that you haven't had a referral yet. You are on the opposite waiting side than Mike and I. We had a fairly quick referral (about 2 1/2 months) but now we wait longer inbetween trips. It all depends on the region your dossier is sent to. Yekaterinburg gets quicker referrals but longer wait times inbetween with more paperwork. Other regions are slower with referral times but a quicker wait inbetween trips. I am sure something will come up soon. Keep talking with your agency and hopefully it will come soon.

Joy,

Hi. I hope you don't mind me asking but where is AAI out of? It is the same as Partners for Adoption in Walnut Creek, CA? Can you please email me back at HCox@sbli.com? I have been following your blog and others and am just about to start the process and would love to touch base with you.

Thanks, Heather

Sweet Joy,

I am hurting for you. I saw you with Owen and know what a wonderful mother you are going to be. You were made to be a mother to a very special child. I can't imagine my life without Owen and can't imagine you not having a little Owen of your own. Oh how I pray February brings the news you have waited for so long to hear. We met Owen in February so it's a very special month for us, and I have a good feeling for you. :) I hope you can wait it out with this agency now that you've given them so much money. As you always tell me, something good is going to come from all of this. I really believe that, Joy.

I hope we can see you again soon! LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Escape!!! Aren't heated seats incredible? I just got those for the first time in my life when we got our Honda, and I love them too this time of year. :)

Hi, I found your blog from Our Journey of Love. Just a suggestion to help the pain you are having, you could go to a chiropractor. I know that I didn't do anything after an accident I had and then four years later I started having problems because of some whiplash I incurred during the accident. I went to a chiropractor and it helped a lot and I wish I would have seen one sooner.

Joy,
I just wanted to send you a big hug. We are running on similar time frames and I know how hard it is to get motivated to do the paperwork all over again. We just did ours (again)! I hope that you hear something very soon, but if you don't I hope that you decide to continue your journey to becoming a mom. This road of adoption is very hard, but few things worthwhile are easy. Feel free to email me if you need someone to sympathize with you!

Love the Escape and love the look of the updated model.

I will pray that God gives you peace about your decision to adopt. It is not an easy wait and I'm sorry you've gotten caught in the slow down. I will pray for you to find direction in the path chosen for you!!

love the new car! i'm with you on the heated seats. they are the best.

on the adoption front...our agency today told me that russia is revamping their fostering system b/c too many kids are being returned to orphanages. many russian nationals are taking children from an orphanage in one region and then taking them back to orphanages in another. (how sad is that). supposedly once legistlation is passed for change there will be more children available for international adoption. this is good news. i'm still on the nizhniy yahoo groupas well and a russian who works in that region is also saying similar things. maybe things will pick! i will keep you in our prayers!

Hi Joy,

I stumbled on your blog from your posting on FRUA -- and I am surprised I haven't found you earlier since we "read" a lot of the same ones!

I used to have an Escape -- and I loved it! Great choice! Looks like a really nice one too.

Second, I understand your frustration. Sorry to hear things aren't going well. :(

The Escape is great, really like the color and wheels! Heated seats and remote start have me completely spoiled here in MI.

I am sorry the wait is so long on this Adoption journey. Patience is not one of my virtues, I often think God is trying to teach me to have more. We still have faith in AAI. Weekly I get a thumbs up in some way about them and it helps me so much. I am Praying that you are next to learn about a referral. Many people are happy with the Region you are registered in. I'm excited for you, you are so close. For now I have shopping therapy (on a budget) that is making the wait a little easier.

Hi Joy,

I don't seem to make it out to check in on the blogs as often as I would like but when I do, I always check in on you hoping to read good news. Congrats on the Escape (my Beetle has heated seats and I love them)!

Hang in there and don't give up on your adoption. The holidays are always hard. We waited through 3 Christmas' after starting our adoption and it was so tough to read about all the others while we were stuck waiting.

Just hang in there, I too believe the wait is for a reason. Your little one is just not ready for you yet. Hugs
