Who has a...

Disney vacation club? I know it is a time share but it uses a point system that I am not familiar with, mostly because I do not own a time share. If you have one do you like it or do you not? Is is possible to go to places other then Disney? I figured it might be worth asking.

Thanks

As a matter of fact- we do! We love it! Now, we're in a different boat than you, as we live an hour away and go there regularly for weekend getaways! Last fiscal year, we had 14 vacation days on our 200 points. This year, with spring break being a different week and DVC's revamping their point allotments for weekdays (a week is still the same number of points, but they moved some of the points to weekdays- where it may have been 22 for a weekend and 10 for a week night, it might now be 18 for a weekend and 15 for a weekday). And we anticipate either needing to buy more points, or go less often when Sunshine comes home and we need to begin booking 1 bedroom rooms instead of studios. For us currently, we can now stay at deluxe resorts with the same investment we were putting into moderate resorts before we bought in. Other than the Disney World resorts, you can also use points for other Disney properties (Cali, Paris, etc), their cruises, or their DVC properties in Hilton Head, Vero Beach, and Hawaii. You can also exchange through RCI, but I'm not sure how that works- we haven't yet.
We sat through the 1st schpeel in 2008 and didn't buy until 9 months later in 2009. I'd advise you to sit through their little deal when you come down in the fall, or check into what they do online (I think they can do it that way, too). I'll email you my number if you want to call me about it- or you can email me any specific questions you may have, too! Happy to help!
